The festival season is upon us once again. For those of us not luck enough to own an actual VW camper we could always buy this tent replica.
We just really really want one of these!

Really great Motion Graphics piece by Patrick Clair.
An infographic dissecting the nature and ramifications of Stuxnet, the first weapon made entirely out of code.
Here is a brilliant motion graphics piece. It beautifully illustrates what the college does, who their target market is, and speaks to them through different media. Motion graphics, stop motion and live footage are all combined to create a captivating piece.
Push Pop Press is a new publishing platform for iOS devices. It helps users develop books rich and deep in content, full of text, images, interactive graphics, sound and touch. It makes publishing easy to do, the user does not need to have knowledge of coding and software development. The first title to take advantage of the Push Pop Press software is Al Gore’s “Our Choice”, the sequel to An Inconvenient Truth.
Push Pop Press is a new brand which aims to bring a new dimension to the e-book platform, adding high-end graphics to the largely unadorned text. They will come up against some big name brand competition also, such as Adobe, who have a huge percent of the e-book and magazine platform. This new way of branding and creating books looks great. Full of interactivity and fun I am sure Push Pop Press will take off in a big way. Watch out for more titles on their website here: http://pushpoppress.com/

Some really interesting things happening in the world of electric cars. It seems there is a degree of excitement to see who can produce a viable mass market solution. With oil prices up and the cost of fuel rising everyday it is only inevitable that the electric car will become a mass consumer product, and sooner than we may think.
Two really interesting videos above about this new push for electric by car companies. The first clip looks at who killed the electric car, the second clip follows the new emergence of a new breed of electric car. It follows the people who want to be the first ones to produce a fully electric and mass produced car for the public markets, and cars with credibility.
With the winner of the 2010 Automotive X-Prize being Li-ion Motors, they are using their 2.5 million dollar prize money to mass produce the Inizio. The Li-ion Inizio holds the distinction of being one of the first all-electric supercars. It can hit speed up to 170 MPH and with a range of 250 miles. With the fastest Inizio model going from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, this shows electric cars do have big capabilities. And the car looks good too, see the images below.
Unlike the Li-ion Inizio the Toyota Prius, is a hybrid car, which has both a petrol and electric engine. The Prius has been around since 2000 and with petrol prices going up this car is getting more and more popular. Perhaps these hybrid cars have paved the way for the full electric car. They have eased us into the idea that electricity is a viable alternative to petrol.
There is also some very interesting innovations into powering the electric car of the future. The eCoupled PowerSpot is a wireless charging device straight from a si-fi movie. Park your car over the PowerSpot and it will wirelessly charge over night.
With this new emergence of super electric car. Along with the new race to be the first mass produced consumer electric car, and all the new innovations in charging and battery life — it looks like the electric car is coming sooner than we may have thought.

Really nice motion graphic animated piece. This is a fan-made title sequence created by Daniel Kanemoto. It pays tribute to the fact that The Walking Dead started life as a graphic novel, which is why he uses such a graphic comic style in the motion piece. Daniel runs Ex Mortis Films, an animation and motion graphics studio, he says he produced this title sequence because he wanted to announce his arrival on the West Coast. I think people now know he is there! He gave himseld 6 weeks to create this motion piece, working mostly nights. He uses the 3D camera in after effects to great affect, the 3D adds so much more to the graphics.
Working from high resolutions scans of the actual comics, he created this 3D motion graphic world for his title sequence. 6 weeks well spent!

Great bike design, by the artist Robert Wechsler.
“Nine salvaged bikes were reassembled into a carousel formation. The bike is modular and can be dismantled and reassembled. It is normally left in public places where it can attract a variety of riders.”

New stuff by the graphic design agency Build. The new stationery is designed for young designers (…how old is a young designer?) - it is a kit of everything they may need in the design field. From pencils and rulers, to the now obligatory, designed tote bag. They look well cool as a set and I wouldn’t mind having these myself. The Design Museum and the design agency Build have collaborated on a number of items, which are all beautifully designed.

This is a really nice short. This film is about Steven Powers a sign writer, designer and artist. As part of the Near Westside Initiative, Powers was asked to revitalise the community. The projects brightens up what people are now considering a run down part of town. Where the train serviced all the factories, it now only runs once or twice a day. Powers designed and hand painted letter-forms and typography along these bridges, it became a way of breaking barriers, and bridging two different communities.
This really is a collaborative project between a lot of people to bring a community together again. I recently seen a similar project in Dublin, now I would love to see huge type in Birmingham.

What a brilliant and creative design concept. This is one of those designs that make me think why has it taken so long to come up with something like this before. Keep leads to all your electrical equipment in check with this interconnecting block design. When and where can we get them in Birmingham.

Being a graphic design agency who deal with print we really liked this video. Its from a Canadian ink makers, who specialise in colour. Its pretty fascinating to see how a simple pigment is mixed to one day become colour that we use on everything from business cards to brochures. Its a special craft that takes time and effort. Its important for designers and agencies to really understand what makes up there ink, and get a full view of the printing process from the very start to the production of their final design. These guys do all kinds of ink including eco-friendly ink with big reductions of harmful chemicals.

These wall stickers are a really nice design concept, and they would suit any design studio. The were created to give a fun reminder to the amount energy and electricity we use. They are really simple black graphics, the stickers were created with eco-friendly self adhesive vinyl.
As a graphic design and branding agency in Birmingham we take environmental issues very serious. We try to recycle and re-use everything we can, these stickers are a friendly reminder we can always do more.
