Poster Design and Graphics

We just love these posters for Coppélia. This is just a selection of 27 poster designs submitted to Pointe Blank, a new collaborative project created by Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Designers and Artists were invited to create original artwork based on the story of the ballet Coppélia. Great selection of posters, from pure typographic pieces to detailed illustrations. The posters were then put on display in an exhibition. It’s great to see this kind of thing happening and we look forward to more.

Illustration / Art

The Art of Mike Mitchell, a freelance illustrator with a focus on pop culture. Located in Los Angeles, California he is most known for creating the “I’m with Coco” poster. We are big fans of his work here at Stripeyhorse Creative check out more of the great work on his personal website

Poster Design

We really like these poster designs by Brian Banton. Each poster interprets a design or philosophy related quote. We especially like the last one shown here.

Under the Milky Way. Graphic posters

Love this poster series by Ross Berens. Entitled Under The Milky Way, amazingly he says each poster was done in 2–3 hours each. They began as an experiment in typography.

Start Happy. Poster

Just love this pull out from The Guardian. Designed by Ben Terrett and Anthony Burrill (who I posted about before here and here). I would love to get my hands on one but unfortunately never got The Guardian that day.

Tron. Graphic posters.

Tron Legacy was easily one of the best movies of 2010. Really great graphics throughout the whole movie and a fantastic soundtrack produced by Daft Punk. I really like these graphic posters designed by Signalnoise.

Hello Couture. Graphic Posters.

A really nice set of poster designs by Ryan Atkinson for Hello Couture. Really nice use of typography and photographs.

Check out more of Ryans portfolio on the Behance Network, he has a very nice minimal Swiss feel to his work.

Found via the website http://www.aisleone.net, which is a great graphic design resource.

Seb Lester. Typographic designer

Really great post by Seb Lester on the ‘I Love Typography’ website. He has recently released three limited edition typographic design posters. ‘Dreams’, ‘Stars’, and ‘So Much To Do’ are the titles of the new designs, he goes into detail and focus primarily on ‘Dreams’, what he says is one of his most ambitious designs to date. He talks about his process when starting a new graphic poster, and what I found most interesting was how he starts each project with a self initiated brief. He says he wants a “distillation of everything I want the print to say and do. I always try to aim as high as possible. Shoot for the stars and you might hit the ceiling, as they say”. He says he wanted to develop something a bit more complex with ‘Dreams’, and contrasting bold display styles with the flourishing script styles certainly makes for a complex and well developed graphic style.
